Met office issues severe thunderstorm warning for Karachi

The Meteorological Department has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Karachi staring from August 03 to 05.

The city already received decent monsoon rains in the ongoing system, with various areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.

On Wednesday, Karachi received rains in several areas. The Old City area, in particular, was hit with persistent rain from midnight into the morning.

The downpour let to water accumulation in several low-laying areas, including Gurmandir, Kashmir Road, Nagan and some parts of Shahrah e Faisal.

About 13 mm rain was recorded in DHA Phase 2, the Met office data revealed. About 11.1 mm at Old Airport, 11 mm at Quaidabad, and 6.2 mm at Sarjani were recorded.

PAF Faisal Base receive 6 mm rain, 5.5 mm in Kemari, and 5.3 mm in Gadap Town.

Lower rainfall was observed at Jinnah Terminal (4 mm), Korangi (3.2 mm), Hasan Square (3 mm), and other areas.
