Met office issues rain alert for Karachi

The Pakistan Metrological Department has forecasted more rains in Karachi, as the city continues to receive intermittent light showers in different parts since last nights.

Korangi Creek, Ibrahim Haideri, Qayyumabad, Defence, Clifton, Sadar, I.I. Chanderigar Road, Soldier Bazar and Federal B Area, among other areas, received rain.

With light rains in different parts of the city, there was also a power outage in many areas, causing severe problems to the citizens.

Now the Meteorological Department has forecasted more rain in the port city and stated that the current system expected to last till Monday.

Apart from this, heavy rains are expected across the country including Punjab from today (Thursday) till August 17.

Due to the torrential rains, there is a possibility of flooding in Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Peshawar, Buner Mansehra, Kohistan, Swat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, north-east Punjab, Kashmir rivers and mountainous areas of Dera Ghazi Khan.

The met office said that due to heavy rains, traffic movement is also likely to be affected due to landslides in Murree, Galiat and Kashmir.
