Monsoon claims 245 in Pakistan, NDMA

At least 245 people have been killed in monsoon rains and floods across the country since July 01, the National Disaster Management Authority revealed on Wednesday.

According to the date, Punjab has been most affected province with 92 causalities, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 74 deaths.

About 47 people lost their lives in Sindh and 22 people died in Balochistan. Additionally, six people were killed in Kashmir and four in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Among all the deaths, 121 were children and 48 were women.

The recent floods and rains also injured 446 individuals, including 158 men, 107 women, and 181 children.

The NDMA’s report further highlights the extensive damage to property and infrastructure.

About 1,002 houses were completely destroyed, while 3,475 houses suffered partial damage.

The data revealed that the floods also took a toll on public infrastructure, damaging eight schools and 35 bridges. Moreover, 609 cattle were killed, exacerbating the economic impact on affected communities.

The NDMA continues to assess the full extent of the damage and coordinate with provincial authorities to assist those affected by the floods.
