Monsoon system comes to end in Karachi?

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorology Department (PMD) forecast that Karachi is expected to face a dry spell until mid-September, with no rain forecasted in the coming days.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz stated that rain predictions are uncertain at present, and the city can expect partly cloudy and humid weather for the next 24 hours.

The weather department recorded a minimum temperature of 27.5°C in Karachi, with a maximum temperature range of 32°C to 34°C.

The PMD forecast also indicated a possibility of light rain or drizzle in Tharparkar, Umarkot, and surrounding areas, with 85% humidity and southwest winds blowing at 19 kilometers per hour.

Sarfraz warned that warmer days may return to Karachi in the coming weeks as monsoon winds start to return from Sindh by mid-September. He also expects the weather in October to remain hot and dry, with a possibility of heatwaves.

In August, Karachi experienced torrential rains and strong winds due to a cyclonic storm, resulting in cracks on roads and causing trouble for commuters.

The Sindh Provincial Disaster Management Authority reported five deaths and two injuries in the province within 24 hours earlier this week.
