ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday suspended the lower house of parliament’s Sergeant at Arms Muhammad Ishfaq Ashraf for four months.

According to an “office order” issued by the NA secretariat today, Sergeant-at-Arms (BPS-20) Muhammad Ishfaq Ashraf was suspended “with immediate effect for a period of 120 days”.

“During the period of his suspension, he will be entitled to draw pay and allowances as admissible under the applicable rules,” the order read.

Furthermore, the speaker also suspended four other security personnel for the said term.

The move comes a day after National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq announced to take action on the arrests made from the premises of the Parliament.

In the National Assembly session, the members of parliamentarians discussed the incident of last night, on which Ayaz Sadiq said that he will take action on what happened in the house last night.

The Speaker said that they will have to take a stand on this in any case. I have asked for videos not only of all the gates (doors) but everywhere so that we can put the responsibility on whoever is responsible, he added.

The Speaker further said that he considered himself unlucky that in 2014 a party and his cousin attacked the parliament and he was on this chair. The second attack was on the room of Maulana Salahuddin Ayub and that too was our bad luck.
