Nawaz Sharif wants to be the ‘Selected PM’ for fourth time, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Saturday lashed out Nawaz Sharif for chasing a fourth term premiership via “selection” instead of “election”.

While addressing a political gathering in Lower Dir Bilawal taunted : “Mian sahib you have come [to the power] three times via ‘selection’. At least be ‘elected’ for [your] fourth tenure [as prime minister this time]”.

“Everyone has a right to contest elections and dream but the people also have the right to ask that the one who failed once, twice and thrice, what can he accomplish after a fourth time?”, Chairman PPP targeted Nawaz Sharif.

Bilawal also said that the PML-N supremo had been involved in “revenge politics” when he was “selected” via the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) — Nawaz-led political alliance formed against the PPP’s Benazir Bhutto-led government in 1988.

“In his second term, Mian sahib wanted to become amir ul momineen,” Bilawal added.

Taking a dig at Nawaz’s ouster as the country’s premier on all three occasions, Bilawal said that even in his third term, the PML-N supremo locked horns with the “same people” who did him “favours”.

“Mian sahib, after his third ouster, started complaining ‘mujhay kyun nikala?’ [why was I ousted?] and eventually landed in Avenfield [apartments], seemingly to bring a revolution”.

“Now Mian sahib is asking to be made prime minister with a two-thirds majority,” Bilawal asserted.

Bilawal Bhutto said that the PTI founder had failed to fulfill his pledge regarding the construction of five million houses and providing jobs to one million people while the problems of people of KP increased during the 10-year tenure of PTI.

“In this financial crisis, we cannot afford a khilari (Imran Khan) who will play around with your future nor a fourth-timer (Nawaz Sharif ). We need a new style of politics that keeps the nation and its issues at the forefront.”, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said.

The former foreign minister said that politics of revenge received significant emphasis during the Zaman Park prime minister’s tenure.“[We] had only one [principle] difference with the PTI founder that he came [to the power] via selection. […] and relied on umpire’s finger for his politics.”

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said there was only one political party (PPP) which did not consider the PTI or PML-N as its opponents, and if it did have a fight with anything then it was against inflation, unemployment and poverty.

Bilawal said current politics did not pay attention to the nation’s problems. He said the crisis of inflation began during the PTI’s government and was bungled by the PML-N-led finance ministry in the previous government.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari claimed that all other political parties’ governments have failed to deliver and his party was the only hope with the ability to remove the sense of deprivation of the people.

Bhutto-Zardari asserted, “It is important for the PPP to form the government in a bid to address all the challenges the country is facing.”
