New fixed charges on electricity bills from July
ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has put more burden on masses by introducing new fixed charges on electricity bills that will come into effect on July 1, 2024.
As per the Nepra proposal, the regulatory authority has suggested fixed charges of Rs200-1,000 a month in the electricity bills to the government.
The proposal said that consumers using electricity between 301-400 units will pay Rs200, while those using 401-500 units will pay Rs400 fixed charges on electricity bills from July.
Similarly, power consumers using between 501-600 units will pay Rs600, while those using 601-700 units will pay Rs800.
Consumers using above 700 units will pay Rs1,000 in fixed charges, according to the Nepra proposal.
