New monsoon spells disrupt life in Pakistan

A new monsoon spell has brought heavy rains and widespread flooding across in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.

The heavy rains left low-lying areas submerged with power supplies disrupted. Moreover, at least nine people and 40 livestock were reportedly stranded.

Several cities including Narowal, Mianwali, and Bhera experiencing intermittent heavy showers.

In Sindh, Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot received heavy downpours and inundated low-lying areas, leading to power outages.

The Nullah Bein in Shakargarh is experiencing high flood levels.

According to rescue officials, nine people and 40 livestock were stranded in Chatri and Rai Pur. The operations are underway to evacuate farmers and herders trapped in the Nala Bein.

The flood water also entered Chatri Broti and Fatehpur causing damage to crops.

The current monsoon spell is predicted to continue until August 25th.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued floods and landslide warning in the mountainous areas.

Moreover, Karachi experienced light overnight showers in some areas.
