An important decision has been made regarding the Friday sermon and prayers at the Masjid al-Haram and Masjid-i-Nabawi (Peace Be Upon Him) keeping in view extreme heat in Saudi Arabia.

According to Saudi news agency, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, the head of Masjid Al-Haram and Masjid-i-Nabawi (PBUH), issued instructions to reduce the duration of the Friday sermon and prayers. According to the new orders, instructions have been given to offer the Friday prayers and sermon at Masjid al-Haram and Masjid-i-Nabawi (PBUH) within 15 minutes.

The decision has been taken in view of the extreme hot weather conditions in the kingdom. The new orders will be applicable until the hot summer season persists. The previous routine will be implemented once the mercury comes down.

On the other hand, the number of pilgrims who died due to extreme heat during the current Hajj season in Makkah reached 1,170.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the number of pilgrims who died from the heat has reached 1,170.

Many pilgrims are still missing and are being treated in several hospitals. Dead pilgrims are from Jordan, Indonesia, Iran, Senegal, Tunisia and Iraq. The search for 20 missing pilgrims from Jordan is also ongoing.
