No final decision taken to ban PTI: PML-N’s Dr Tariq Chaudhry

19 July, 2024 10:21

PML-N’s chief whip in the National Assembly Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that no final decision has so far been taken to ban Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Talking on a local TV show, Dr. Tariq Chaudhry said that bringing a no-confidence motion against PTI was a big mistake.

He further said that no final decision has been taken to ban Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, there is an opinion in this regard and we are not a government with a simple majority. The announcement will be made after consultation with all the allies.

Dr. Fazal added that no one talked about not implementing any decision of the Supreme Court and no one should think about it, it is our constitutional institution and the biggest court. Its order is clear. But, the government has no such intention.

The PML-N leader further said that Imran Khan did not meet his sons during his four-year rule due to Bushra Bibi’s restriction.

Earlier, the United States has expressed concern over the government’s decision to ban Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller responded to questions regarding the “possible restrictions on PTI” during a presser on Monday.

“Our understanding is this is the beginning of what would be a complete complex political process, but certainly banning of a political party is something that would be a great concern to us,” Matthew Miller said.

He said that the US will closely monitor these internal developments and decisions.

His remarks came just a few hours after Information Minister Ataullah Tarar’s presser where he informed media about government’s move regarding PTI’s future.

“Pakistan and PTI cannot move together and the government will register a case against the party,” the federal minster told a news conference on Monday.
