The death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to at least 1,354, and 6,049 suffered various injuries in unprecedented Israeli airstrikes on Gaza and westbank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

In Gaza,UN said more than 338,000 people have been displaced.Nearly half a million people have lost access to food rations.Three out of the five water plants in Gaza are out of service due to bombardment and lack of fuel.

Gaza Humanitarian Crises

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday tweeted “Crucial life-saving supplies — including fuel, food and water — must be allowed into Gaza. We need rapid and unimpeded humanitarian access now.

Israeli Energy Minister Israel Katz in response to a question replied, “Humanitarian aid to Gaza? No electric switch will be turned on, no water tap will be opened and no fuel truck will enter until the Israeli abductees are returned home,” he said in a statement.

Implifications of possible Israeli ground invasion of Gaza

Israel appeared to be readying for a possible ground invasion of Gaza after amassing 300 000 troops, but also faces the threat of a multi-front war after also coming under rocket attack from Hamas in neighbouring Lebanon and Syria.

In reponse to upcoming Israeli ground offensive into the besieged Gaza,Hamas leader Ghazi Hamad has said that in the beginning of this operation we sent 1,200 fighters who succeeded in destroying the image of Israel, the security of Israel, the intelligence of Israel, and the image that Israel is a superpower.

We are not afraid. We are a strong people. We have a strong determination to continue. We have a lot of fighters and a lot of people who want to support us.Even people in the borders of Jordan, Lebanon and everywhere, they want to come here and fight for us. Gaza is not a garden and it will be very costly for them,” Hamad warned.

Fake news and propaganda for Israel on social media

An unverified claim got momentum on social media platforms Meta, X, TikTok and Snapchat that Hamas fighters’ beheaded Israel’s 40 babies turned out to be Israeli propaganda directly instructed by Israeli defence forces.

The White House also walked back comments from US President Joe Biden that he had “seen” images of babies decapitated by Hamas.

Sky news clarified that the reasons Sky did not telecast babies beheading stories. “We have not seen the evidence of that…we have asked the IDF 3 times to confirm it…they have not yet” Sky news reported.

Bel Trew, war correspondent who broke the news on Twitter, also took back her claim and gave the following clarification:

“I just wanted to clarify that I did not tweet 40 babies had been beheaded. I tweeted that foreign media had been told women and children had been decapitated but we had not been shown bodies – which was my response to reports which had gone viral about the 40 babies. I realised the way my tweet was written was too short to explain the full context, so deleted it. My headline of my story references that toddlers were killed.”

Social media Censorship

Mean while (twitter)X says it has removed “hundreds of Hamas-affiliated accounts” and taken down thousands of posts since the attack on Israel by the Palestinian militant group.

On October 8th, Elon Musk personally recommended that users follow accounts notorious for promoting lies. Before he deleted his tweet had been seen 11 million times.

The platform (twitter)X was given 24 hours by the European Union earlier this week to address illegal content and disinformation regarding the conflict or face penalties under the bloc’s recently enacted Digital Services Act.
