None of our stadiums meet international standards: PCB chief

19 August, 2024 16:02

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that all teams including India will come to Pakistan if stadiums are built.

The PCB chief reviewed the construction of the main building of Gaddafi Stadium Lahore along with PCB officials, representatives of FWO and other construction companies and issued instructions.

Talking to the media on this occasion, he said that the construction work is going on day and night as fast as possible. It is a challenge to complete the upgrade work of Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi stadiums before the Champions Trophy. The work will be completed before the Champions Trophy, let the stadium be completed, all the teams including India will come, he added.

He further said that there is a difference between our stadiums and those of the world as none of the grounds are of international standard. We have to increase the standard of stadiums, he added.

Naqvi said that there is no lack of coordination and the security agencies told us to conduct matches without spectators and now we have shifted the Test also with consultation. There may be more changes as this is a challenge, the PCB chief said.

He added that a building for a hotel has been taken near the stadium but it is a complicated phase. The decision will be made in a week or so whether the project can be completed before the Champions Trophy or not because the building will be converted into a hotel.
