Over 100 Israeli airstrikes raise death toll to 49 in Gaza so far.

According to Reuters, Israel carried out hundreds of air strikes in Gaza on Wednesday (till this report).

Meanwhile, Palestinian Islamic resistance groups fired multiple rocket barrages at Tel Aviv and the southern city of Beersheba in the region’s most intense hostilities in years.

At least 49 people embraced martyrdom in Gaza since violence escalated on Monday, according to the enclave’s health ministry.

However, Israeli medical officials confirmed death of six people in Israel.

A Palestinian source said truce efforts by Egypt, Qatar and the United Nations were continuing but without progress so far.

Meanwhile, U.N. Middle East peace envoy Tor Wennesland said the United Nations was working with all sides to restore calm.

In Gaza, Israel destroyed a multi-storey residential building which collapsed.

Hamas chief declares victory in battle of Jerusalem

Although, Hamas and Islamic Jihad had lost some of its commanders and fighters, they vowed to retaliate Israeli attacks.

Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh said in a speech on Tuesday night that the Palestinians have set a new “balance of power” with Israel.

He made this announcement after a day of massive rocket attacks on Israel, including an unprecedented 130 rockets fired at central Israel Tuesday evening.

“We have achieved victory in the battle for Jerusalem, the defense of Jerusalem,” Haniyeh said. He later added: “Jerusalem is the axis of conflict.”

Meanwhile, Tuesday saw a barrage of missiles over central Israel not seen since 2014, when Hamas and Israel last fought an all-out war.

Gaza-based Islamic resistance launched hundreds of rockets over Israel’s most densely populated areas, with air raid sirens wailing in Tel Aviv, Herzliya and as far north as Netanya.
