Oxygen production in Pakistan rose from 465 tons to 725 tons per day

Oxygen production in Pakistan rose from 465 tons to 725 tons per day in the time span of a year.

In a twitter thread on Friday, Minister for Planning Asad Umar said this.

He said the country’s oxygen production has increased from 465 tons to 725 tons per day.

Moreover, he said Pakistan has also imported 19,200 oxygen cylinders last year to ensure the distribution.

The minister said we have so far managed to cope with surge of critical care Covid patients because of proactively building capacity of the entire system from oxygen production to beds.

He said the total number of critical care Covid patients on oxygen reached 5360 yesterday.

Asad Umar further noted it 57 percent more than the peak in last June.

He said proactive decision making with the help of God Almighty,  we have avoided the kind of scenes which some other countries witness.

The Minister said the challenge is not over and the need for precautions and following SoP’s is vital at this point in time.

Punjab govt plan

Meanwhile, Punjab Government has prepared a comprehensive plan to increase the number of corona vaccination centers.

They planned to increase them from 135 to 246 to facilitate people across the province.

Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid said, while addressing a meeting in Lahore.

The meeting reviewed the  coronavirus situation.

The minister further said that vaccination process continues at a fast pace in the province.

She noted of having set up a helpline 042-99211136 to guide the public regarding the availability of beds in the hospitals.

She said that they can also get information regarding the availability of beds from  Rescue 1122.
