Pak Army enhanced troops deployment to help civil bodies on Covid SOPs.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Babar Iftikhar said this on Monday.

While addressing a press conference, he said that Pakistan Army will act as emergency responders to help civilian bodies to implement the SOPs.

He said the Pakistan Army had brought about “enhanced deployment” of its troops in various cities.

They included: Islamabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Gujrat, Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta and Muzaffarabad.

He further said that these cities were reporting a high number of coronavirus cases on a daily basis.

The DG ISPR said that the number of deaths has risen with the spike in coronavirus cases amid third wave of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, he also provided details of the coronavirus situation in the country.

He said that the government has asked the armed forces to assist the implementation of coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Army’s deployment

Major General Babar Iftikhar announced the army’s deployment in 16 affected cities of the country.

He said that the number of deaths were increasing on a daily basis amid third wave of coronavirus.

The DG ISPR said that Pakistan Army jawans will provide full support to other law enforcement agencies in the country.

He said that the third wave of Coronavirus in the country has affected the entire region.

Furthermore, he said 75 percent of oxygen production is allocated to the health sector and the condition of 4,300 patients in the country is critical.
