Pakistan bans Pashtun Tahafuz Movement

The government has slapped a ban on the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), citing threats to peace and security of the country.

The federal interior ministry has issued a notification today that declared the party as unlawful under the Section 11B of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.

The announcement from the Interior Ministry says the PTM poses a significant danger to public order and safety in the country.

 

Pashtun Tahafuz Movement leader Manzoor Pashteen has been invited by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to the upcoming Pashtun Qaumi Jirga to he held on October 11.

The invitation was issued during a meeting between the two leaders, where Manzoor Pashteen stressed the importance of unity among Pashtuns.

Pashteen said that Gandapur had expressed his support for the Pashtun cause and assured that the provincial government would collaborate with the jirga.

The KP chief minister confirmed that the government would have representatives present at the gathering.
