Trump Announces New Trade Deal with India

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a new trade deal with India, calling it “a new chapter” in the economic relations between the two countries.
Speaking at a ceremony at the White House, President Trump said the new agreement will be different from past deals and “more balanced” for both sides.
He added that the United States and India are taking several important steps to expand economic cooperation.
According to Trump, India is gradually reducing its oil imports from Russia, and in return, Washington will ease tariffs on Indian products under the new trade terms.
Smiling, Trump remarked, “Right now, India is not very happy with us — but soon, they’ll start liking us again.”
During the event, President Trump also appointed Sergio Gor as the new U.S. ambassador to India, who formally took the oath of office at the ceremony.
