Five suspects arrested in Muzaffarabad intelligence-based operation
MUZAFFARABAD: Law enforcement agencies carried out a successful intelligence-based operation in the Chehla area of Muzaffarabad, arresting five suspects, according to sources.
Officials said the targeted raid was conducted after receiving secret information about suspicious activities in the area.
During the operation, laptops, mobile phones, and other communication devices were recovered from the suspects. Initial investigations reportedly revealed suspicious contacts and sensitive material stored on the digital devices.
Sources further said that during interrogation, information provided by one suspect led to the recovery of a large cache of weapons.
The recovered items included seven automatic weapons, several grenades, and other military-grade equipment. Authorities also said maps of sensitive installations and alleged attack plans were found during the search.
Documents and records related to important locations were also seized, while investigators are examining possible links with a hostile intelligence network.
The seized mobile phones, laptops, and other materials are currently undergoing forensic and technical analysis.
Investigators are also looking into possible facilitators, sources of financial support, and wider network connections linked to the suspects.
Officials said timely action helped prevent any potential threat to sensitive installations and public safety.
They added that activities against national security, peace, and public interest will not be tolerated, and strict legal action will be taken against those involved.
Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activity to relevant agencies immediately.
