PPP Observes July 5 as Black Day, Reaffirms Democratic Values
PPP District Larkana stages ‘Salam Quaid Awam’ ceremony at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s mausoleum to condemn the July 5, 1977 martial law.
The ceremony at the Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto mausoleum was attended by the local leadership of the PPP.
Floral wreaths were laid and Fateha was offered by PPP workers at the mausoleum of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon in his message on the event of July 5 said July 5, 1977 marked as a black day in history, the people’s right to choose their government was denied.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said the highhanded act of July 5 had a reflective destructive impact on politics, society and national development.
He stated, today is a day of recommencing the pledge to constitutional supremacy, democratic permanence and protecting the people’s right to vote.
He further added Martyr Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto waged a historic struggle for democracy, the constitution and the rights of the people.
He said the political struggle of Shaheed Bhutto and Shaheed Bibi is an important chapter in the history of the promotion of democratic values in Pakistan.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said the bitter lessons of the past teach us that the path to national stability and development passes through democracy, the constitution and the rule of law.
The Pakistan People’s Party has always been a champion of the constitution, democracy and the rights of the people Has been, Sharjeel Inam Memon said.
He said People’s Party leaders and workers have made extraordinary losses to defend democratic values.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said Sindh government, in agreement with the vision of the Pakistan People’s Party leadership, will remain to struggle for the elevation of democratic values and public service.
