Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia Hold First Makkah Accord Meeting Today

The inaugural meeting under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, commonly known as the Makkah Accord, is being conducted in Istanbul, Türkiye, today. Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia’s senior officials are assembly to discuss regional security and strengthen defence cooperation.

Pakistan is being represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. Foreign ministers, defence ministers and military chiefs from Türkiye and Saudi Arabia are also attending the important meeting.

Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir has already reached at Türkiye to take a part in the first high-level meeting under the agreement. His visit is intended to focus on strengthening Pakistan’s defence and strategic cooperation with Türkiye, according to ISPR.

While in Türkiye visit, Asim Munir is possible to meet key Turkish political and military representatives. Discussions are expected to emphasis on regional security, bilateral defence ties and matters of mutual interest.

The Pakistan input in this meeting shows its long term relationship with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. The three countries are seeking durable management and closer support at a time when regional security remains a main concern. The Makkah Accord is predictable to offer a outline for deeper defence cooperation and contribute to peace and stability in the region.
