September 1965 War Day 10: Brave Pakistan Army Officers and Soldiers Sacrifice Their Lives for Country

On the 10th day of the September 1965 war, brave officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army sacrificed their lives while defending the country.

On September 10, Brigadier Ahsan Rashid Shami, Major Ali Abid Hussain and Captain Muhammad Hameedullah Khan embraced martyrdom. Major Sheikh Mubarak Ali, Major Sheikh Zahooruddin and Lieutenant Ahmed Munir also laid down their lives while fighting the enemy.

Brigadier Ahsan Rashid Shami was serving as an artillery commander with the Armoured Division in the Kasur sector. He bravely entered enemy territory on September 10, where he was martyred after being hit by a burst of machine-gun fire. He was awarded the Hilal-i-Jurat posthumously for his bravery.

Major Ali Abid Hussain was commanding an artillery regiment in the Kasur sector during the 1965 war. He was martyred while inspecting the destruction of enemy positions in the Kiran sector.

Captain Muhammad Hameedullah Khan was serving as a Forward Observation Officer. He was martyred on September 10 when an enemy shell hit him at the Jassar Bridge in Narowal.

Major Sheikh Zahooruddin was fighting in the Kasur sector on September 10. He crossed Khem Karan and entered the Indian area of Asal Uttar, where he sacrificed his life.

Lieutenant Ahmed Munir Ahmed belonged to an infantry battalion. He was martyred while fighting the enemy in the Kiran sector during the defence of the country. He was awarded the Sitara-i-Jurat posthumously for his exceptional bravery.

Major Sheikh Mubarak Ali belonged to the Punjab Regiment and was responsible for defending the BRB Bridge on the Batapur-GT Road. On September 10, 1965, he was martyred by a burst of machine-gun fire while driving the enemy out of Dyal village. He was awarded the Sitara-i-Jurat posthumously in recognition of his courage and bravery.

The great sacrifices made by the martyrs of September 10 in the defence of Pakistan will always be remembered in the golden pages of history.
