Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Calls for Fresh Census, Transparent Voter Lists

MQM-Pakistan Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has called for a fresh and accurate census followed by transparent voter lists, saying Karachi’s population has now exceeded 20 million. He said his community had migrated to the Pakistan founded by Quaid-e-Azam and stressed that Karachi’s population must be properly reflected in the electoral and administrative system.
Siddiqui said the urban areas of Sindh had suffered the greatest exploitation and rejected the description of demands for administrative restructuring as treason. He said all political parties were now echoing the concerns raised by his party, highlighting the need to address Karachi’s long-standing political and administrative grievances.
He further said that “Pakistan is the only motherland” and that provinces are merely administrative units and nothing beyond that. Siddiqui argued that demands for provincial restructuring should not be equated with disloyalty to the country, emphasizing that administrative arrangements should serve the people and ensure fair representation.
