Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Remembered on 61st Martyrdom Anniversary

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Armed Forces have paid rich tribute to Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider, on his 61st martyrdom anniversary, praising his exceptional courage, leadership and supreme sacrifice in defence of the country.

According to media reports, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Commander National Strategic Command General Syed Aamer Raza paid tribute to the national hero on behalf of the Armed Forces.

The Armed Forces recalled Major Raja Aziz Bhatti’s extraordinary service during the 1965 war, when he defended the Burki sector near Lahore against sustained enemy attacks.

According to the military, Major Aziz Bhatti fought with exceptional courage for five days and five nights, remaining at his position despite continuous attacks and extreme battlefield conditions.

The Armed Forces said Major Aziz Bhatti’s steadfast leadership and unwavering determination played an important role in preventing the enemy’s advance.

His courage, commitment to duty and supreme sacrifice have made him an enduring symbol of patriotism and military service in Pakistan’s history.

The Armed Forces said his selfless devotion to duty, unshakable resolve and bravery continue to inspire soldiers serving in the defence of the country as well as future generations.

Major Aziz Bhatti was martyred on September 12, 1965, while leading the defence of his position in the Burki sector during the war.

The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the tradition of courage, determination and sacrifice demonstrated by Major Raja Aziz Bhatti in defence of Pakistan’s sovereignty and security.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the services chiefs also paid tribute to the Nishan-e-Haider recipient, remembering his bravery, devotion to duty and supreme sacrifice.

The nation continues to remember Major Raja Aziz Bhatti as one of Pakistan’s most decorated military heroes, whose service and sacrifice remain an enduring part of the country’s national history.
