Federal Govt Speaks Out on Governor’s Rule in KP

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that it is too early to impose governor’s rule or an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Tarar said the KP government should focus on improving the law and order situation instead of considering emergency measures.

Tarar said that as the federal minister for information and broadcasting, he could only comment on verified information and would not speculate about possible constitutional measures.

He, however, criticised the PTI-led provincial government, saying the situation in the province had worsened. He also said the provincial administration had failed to improve the police’s capacity to fight terrorism.

Tarar criticises Sohail Afridi

Tarar also criticised KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, saying it would be difficult for the PTI-led provincial government to organise a long march towards Islamabad because of the current security situation.

He said security in Islamabad would be maintained and no one would be allowed to disturb peace in the federal capital or put people’s lives and property at risk.

Speaking about the PTI’s planned protest, Tarar said the party should focus on tackling terrorism and protecting citizens instead.
