Pakistani celebs face backlash for praising CM Maryam’s 100 days performance in Punjab

A recent social media campaign featuring Pakistani celebrities praising Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s 100 days performance has sparked outrage among supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Several prominent celebrities, including Saba Faisal, Ayesha Omer, and Yasir Hussain, shared videos applauding the government’s efforts in areas such as women’s and minority rights, agriculture, and healthcare.

Many took to social media to express their anger, accusing the celebrities of promoting a “false narrative” and being complicit in a “paid campaign.”

People have pointed out hypocrisy of celebrities and have called for boycott of their dramas and youtube videos. AFter backlash many celebrities have turned off their comment sections to avoid the criticism. PTI also reacted to this marketing strategy. Here are some reactions from X.

YouTuber Abrar Hassan claimed that the celebrities were paid a substantial sum for their endorsements, which he deemed “ethically wrong” considering the high taxes paid by the public.

“Those who made the videos were reportedly paid a very generous sum,” he said.

In response to the backlash, some celebrities and influencers faced calls for a boycott, with many PTI supporters urging others to reject their endorsements.

Another YouTuber Muzamil Hasan stated that the government’s social media campaign ultimately backfired due to the negative public response.
