Pakistani engineer acknowledged by NASA for exposing critical security flaw

Pakistani cybersecurity expert Shehzad Ahmad has been recognised by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for discovering a security vulnerability in their systems.

NASA expressed its appreciation through a letter, commending Ahmad’s “responsible reporting and adherence to their Vulnerability Disclosure Policy (VPD) guidelines.”

“The ability to detect and report on security vulnerabilities is a valuable skill in the information secuirty industry. Your reporting has facilitated NASA’s awareness of otherwise unknown vulnerabilities and helped us protect the integrity and availability of NASA information. Please accept this letter as a token of appreciation for your efforts,” the letter read.

Ahmad, a Google-certified cybersecurity professional, demonstrated his exceptional skill in detecting and reporting security vulnerabilities, enabling NASA to address an otherwise unknown flaw.

With a background in software engineering from Abasyn University, Ahmad has established himself as a seasoned cybersecurity expert.

He has worked with prominent organizations, including IPS Pakistan, Great Future Pakistan, and HackerOne, and has received appreciation from the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for identifying security vulnerabilities in their systems.

Additionally, he has been recognised for his role in controlling the spread of COVID-19.
