Pakistanis to get Rs12.5bn subsidy during Ramazan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has enhanced the amount of special package for the people in the month of Ramazan.

The prime minister has increased the amount of the Ramazan relief package from Rs7.5 billion to Rs12.5 billion. He also directed to increase the scope of the Ramazan relief package.

Shehbaz directed to deliver the relief packages to as many poor, indigent and deserving people as possible. Utility stores and BISP along with mobile units will now also provide cheap food items to masses.

Initially, 1,200 mobile points and 300 permanent package relief centers are being established. From 1st Ramazan to the end of the holy month, goods will be given in the relief package at a lower price than the normal market. Apart from designated places, trucks will deliver cheap goods to the poor people in different areas. A special video will be released to guide the use of the mobile app. A dashboard with digital technology is being created to monitor the sale of mobile flour. The supply of flour will continue during the movement of mobile units from one location to another. Flour distribution will be continuously monitored by mobile and live footage.

Under this special package, over 3.5 crore families will be given food items at cheap prices in Ramazan and under the relief package the deserving people will be given 30 per cent cheaper items from the market.

A subsidy of Rs77 on per kg of flour and Rs70 on ghee will be provided to masses.

It should be noted that on March 7, the prime minister had announced the Ramazan relief package with a subsidy of Rs7.5 billion.
