Pakistan’s Senate to elect new senators on April 3

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to hold the Senate elections on April 3.

According to ECP sources, the election for 48 seats of the Senate will be held on April 3. The commission has also finalized the schedule for the elections of the Senate.

The sources said that the polling for the elections would be held on April 3 in the national and four provincial assemblies. 12 Senators each from Sindh and Punjab while two from Islamabad will be elected.

They further said that as a result of the Senate elections, 11 new senators each from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan would be elected.

It should be noted that 52 senators are set to retire on March 11 after completing their term.

12 senators each from Punjab and Sindh while four senators from former FATA will retire. Also, 11 senators each from KP and Balochistan and two senators from Islamabad will complete their term.
