In a bid to tackle severe fuel shortage in the war-torn Gaza, Palestinians have transformed plastic waste to produce diesel.

The revolutionary yet hazardous method burns plastic waste to extract diesel.

“We started collecting items in an attempt to manufacture fuel because the entire Gaza Strip has been denied of fuel. Plastic is cut small pieces and placed into the cylinder put on fire. Once plastic melts vapor will flow through the pipe onto the water cooling condenser. The colling water runs through its end to ensure maximum cooling,” a man explained the process while talking to Al Jazeera.

Currently, the Gaza strip is facing severe fuel, medical, and food shortage due to ongoing war with Israel.

With no option left, the have been forced to innovate.

According to the publication, local residents are forced to burn plastic and garbage to meet their daily needs.

Though, environmental experts warned of consequences as it poses risk to both health and environment.

Despite these concerns, the people of Gaza feel they have no alternative due to the dire circumstances.

So far over 40,000 people have been killed mostly women and children in the war against Israel.
