PML-N, MQM-P reach agreement on constitutional amendment

A constitutional amendment agreement has been reached between Pakistan Muslim League-N and MQM-P today.

Both the parties have agreed to amend the Article 140 of the Constitution.

Also, negotiations between the two parties on the issue of voting for the National Assembly Speaker remained successful.

The agreement between MQM-P and PML-N agreement consists of 3 points. The MQM-P will sit on government benches instead of opposition.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar and Ayaz Sadiq convinced MQM-P for voting for Speaker’s election.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a schedule for the presidential election on Friday.

The presidential election will be held on March 9, the schedule says. In this connection, the nomination papers may be submitted by 12 noon on March 2.

The nominations will be scrutinized by the Returning Officer on March 4 at 10 am while same may be withdrawn till March 5 at 12 noon.
