PML- N halts rallies for Nawaz homecoming on 21st October
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to cancel any power show in Lahore following a severe backlash on its recent main worker conventions-cum-rallies in an apparent bid to avoid further embarrassment.
The party promises of financial rewards and free food at the events ended up causing damage to PML-N.The PML-N was supposed to hold seven rallies in Lahore, but it cancelled two rallies earlier this month and now the three remaining gatherings were also cancelled.
Specualtions on cancelling political rallies from Nawaz League
It is thought that the large-scale meetings were called off to ensure that the local party leadership doesn’t deplete all their resources and energies well before Nawaz Sharif’s arrival date.
Instead, the plan is to hold meetings with UC-level office bearers to strategize and maximize participation in the upcoming mega event, they said.
PML- N might have cancelled large rallies to avoid creating any negative impression if the the public gatherings fail to attract maximum people especially after the successful rally of the Thokar Niaz Baig.
The party had initially announced workers convention in all of Lahore’s constituencies. However, given the prevailing inflation, public sentiment was not in anyone’s favour.
