PTI postpones Islamabad power show

22 August, 2024 10:26

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has postponed its power show in Islamabad after administration cancelled the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the political rally.

The announcement was made by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan saying that the power show has been postponed on the direction of Imran Khan.

The party was scheduled to hold a public gathering in Tarnol.

On Wednesday, the Islamabad administration revoked the NOC for PTI today’s public gathering. Both private and government schools in the federal capital were closed due to public gathering.

The red zone has been sealed for security reasons.

For the past several months, the Imran Khan led party has been trying to get permission to hold a public meeting in Islamabad, without any success.

Back in March, the party had moved to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) after receiving no response from the district administration despite multiple attempts for the public gathering.

Later, the administration allowed PTI to hold a meeting on 27th Ramazan, a date the party refused to accept claiming that workers would be busy in mosques.

The party had subsequently said that its power show would be held in Islamabad’s Tarnol on Thursday but the district administration once raised concerns and didn’t allow the party to hold a public meeting.
