PTI’s Sanam Javed gets big relief from IHC

15 July, 2024 20:28

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered authorities concerned to immediately release Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed and stopped the police and other law enforcement agencies from arresting her till Thursday.

Sanam Javed, who faced arrests and rearrests in multiple cases related to May 9 mayhem, had been rearrested by the capital territory police on Sunday, an hour after her release from Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) custody.

However, the court directed her to stay within the limits of Islamabad till Thursday. The court strictly advised Javaid and her father to avoid making any hard-hitting statements.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sanam Javed is facing several cases including Zaman Town vandalism, PML-N house fire, Race-course police station case and others after May 9 riots that triggered across Pakistan after the arrest of the former prime minister and PTI founder on May 9.

Violent clashes broke out across Pakistan after the former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested from IHC premises. Army installations and Corps Commander’s house in Lahore came under attack during protest by PTI workers.
