The federal government has declared a public holiday on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi ul Awwal),

The cabinet division issued the notification stating that the government has announced a public holiday on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi ul Awwal) September 17.

According to the notification, all schools, colleges, government, semi-government and private offices will remain closed.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Wednesday announced that the Rabiul Awwal moon was not sighted anywhere across the country, therefore, the Islamic month will commence from Friday (September 6), and Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) will fall on September 17.

The announcement was made after a meeting of the committee presided over by Chairman Abdul Khabeer Azad in Islamabad.

The zonal committees of Ruet-e-Hilal also held meetings in their respective areas including Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Lahore.

Muslims around the world celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), known in Arabic as the Mawlid al-Nabawi, on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal — the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
