Punjab approved second interim budget of Rs2.07 trillion for next four months

The Caretaker Punjab Cabinet led by Mohsin Naqvi on Monday approved a surplus budget of Rs2.07 trillion, covering the upcoming four months.

This caretaker setup had the second interim budget of four months as only elected governments are entitled to present a full year budget.

The Rs 2,076 billion or Rs2.12tr, with a breakdown of Rs1.8tr for non-development expenditures and Rs320 billion for the development budget for the ongoing development schemes.

The development budget of Rs320bn is for some 4,900 development schemes currently under execution in the pro­vince. The funds have been allocated for 120 days, beginning from Nov 1.

Punjab caretaker government’s first budget 

The Punjab’s interim government presented its first four months budget on June 19th for financial year 2023-24 (July to October) With an outlay of Rs1.719 trillion.

In the budget (July to October) , Rs 325 billion have been allocated for the development programme, while an amount of Rs 426.87 billion has been allocated for ongoing development schemes and Rs 941.34 billion have been earmarked for current expenditures.

The first interim budget estimates the total expenditure for the four months at Rs 1,719.3 billion, with Rs 881 billion to be contributed by the federal government and Rs. 194 billion by the provincial revenue.
