Rani Mukherjee opens up about her friendship breakup with Aishwarya Rai

Bollywood’s two beauties and leading actresses Aishwarya Rai and Rani Mukherjee once had a close friendship which ended but fans were unaware of the hidden reason behind it.

Now the Indian media has published a report on Rani Mukherjee’s old interview in which she answered the question of Karan Johar about ending of relationship with Aishwarya on the Koffee With Karan programme.

Reacting to the question, she said that ‘she didn’t have any personal problems with Aishwarya. She doesn’t have any problems with anyone, maybe Aishwarya has some problems because she stopped talking to her on phone’.

Rani further said: ‘she hasn’t even met her in any function so far but she thinks that when we meet somewhere, everything will be fine between us and we will talk to each other too’.

Indian media reports said that Aishwarya Rai was to be cast opposite  Shah Rukh Khan in the 2003 super hit film Chalte Chalte, but then Rani Mukherjee was cast.

The reason for casting Rani in the film was that Aishwarya Rai’s then boyfriend Salman Khan created a ruckus on the set of Chalte Chalte, after which producer Shah Rukh Khan thought of replacing Aishwarya Rai with Rani Mukherjee.

Later, when Aishwarya found out that Rani had been cast in her place, she felt that the actress had cheated her, after which a cold war began between the two.
