Rs18 trillion federal budget today
The PML-N-led government will present the federal budget for the financial year 2024-25 today in the National Assembly.
Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb will present the budget on the floor of the National Assembly at 4 pm today, which is estimated to be more than Rs18 trillion.
Official sources said the budget aims to alleviate the hardships of the people, transform the agriculture sector, promote information technology (IT) and promote exports.
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq will preside over the National Assembly session while the agenda of the budget session has been released.
The sources said there is a possibility of 10 to 15 per cent increase in the salaries and pensions of the employees in the federal budget. It is also expected that the low-grade government employees and pensioners will get more relief under the budget.
The government has also claimed that apart from fiscal management, the budget includes measures for revenue mobilization, economic stability and growth, reduction of non-developmental expenditure, creation of employment opportunities and people-friendly policies for socio-economic prosperity of the country.
