02 August, 2024 20:53

The Ministry of Education has announced the discontinuation of Saturday holidays for schools in Islamabad.

Starting August 10, Saturdays will be dedicated to remedial classes in core subjects, along with extracurricular activities to boost student engagement.

According to Tabassum Naz, Director of Federal Directorate of Education, the decision was taken to provide targeted assistance to students struggling in key subjects, including English, Mathematics, and Science.

This initiative is guided by the directives of Secretary of Federal Education and Professional Training, Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani, and reflects the Ministry’s commitment to improving educational outcomes.

Only essential staff will be required to work on Saturdays, while school heads have been instructed to ensure the successful implementation of this decision.

The remedial classes will provide an opportunity for personalized attention and support, ensuring that all students have the chance to succeed academically.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education has launched the Pink Bus Service, a dedicated transportation system for female students and teachers in Islamabad.

The initiative, directed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aims to empower girls’ education and women in the capital city by providing free, safe, and easy transportation.

Starting August 7, the pink buses will be available at Islamabad’s bus stops, covering all major routes. The service will connect rural areas to urban centers, making travel convenient and secure for female students and teachers.

The Ministry of Education will ensure regular monitoring and evaluation to make the operation successful.
