‘Selectors, coaches to pick Pakistan captains’

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that national selectors and coaches will decide the future of Pakistan men’s team’s captain.

Naqvi, in an interaction with the media after inspecting the ongoing construction work at the Gaddafi Stadium here, shared that he has entrusted the decision regarding the potential shift in Pakistan’s captaincy to the selectors and coaches.

“The decision regarding captaincy will be made after consultation with the coaches, mentors and selection committee,” said Naqvi.

A workshop has been called for September 22, where everyone would share their opinions, and decisions will be made afterward, he added.

He acknowledged that, regardless of where the mistake lies, the blame would ultimately fall on him if the team did not perform well, whether it’s due to selection errors or coaching issues.

PCB chief Naqvi also mentioned that he would meet with the selection committee on Saturday (today).

Regarding the Pakistan-England Test series, the PCB Chairman confirmed that the series will be held in Pakistan, and no test match will be played abroad.

Multan and Rawalpindi have been finalized as the venues, he added.
