Sindh imposes ban on pillion riding

The government of Sindh has imposed a ban on pillion riding across the province, including Karachi, on the occasion of Chahelum Hazrat Imam Hussain.

The Sindh Home Department has banned pillion riding in different districts of the province in view of the processions of Chehlum on August 26.

The request of ban was tendered by IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon.

In the letter dated August 08 to home department, the provincial police chief recommended that pillion riding should be banned across the province in wake of the Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain to avoid any untoward incident.

The ban will be imposed in Karachi’s South region from August 25 to 27, in the East region it will be suspended on August 26 and while, in the west the ban will be imposed from August 25 to 26.

In Hyderabad and Thatta districts, the ban will be in force from August 25 and 26, while in Mirpurkhas, pillion riding will be banned from August 26 to 27.

Apart from this, pillion riding will be banned in Shaheed Benazirabad and the entire district of Sanghar on August 26.

In addition, the provincial government has condemned the use of drones, citing security concerns during Chehlum.
