Trading resumes after fire breaks out in PSX building

Trading resumed at 12:25 after being suspended due to fire broke out at the fourth floor of the Pakistan Stock Exchange building Monday.

“It is hereby informed that the situation is under control and brokerage firms’ staff has started getting back to their premises,” the PSX said in its second notice on the subject.

“To ensure smooth reopening of the market for all concerned, the temporary suspension in trading in all securities has been further extended till 12:25 pm today.”

The trading was temporarily suspended from 10:25 am to 11:25 am after the fire incident.

According to Business Recorder, four fire brigades reached the main PSX building as soon as fire erupted in the main building.

“The fourth floor consists of brokerage houses, however, the situation remains under control.

Deputy Commissioner South Altaf Sario also visited the incident site to review the rescue efforts and remarked that the blaze wasn’t of a serious nature.

The official confirmed that two PSX offices were damaged in the blaze.
