US rejected our offer for Dr Aafia’s extradition: Dar

Senior PML-N leader and former finance minister Ishaq Dar has said that he tried immensely to bring back Aafia Siddiqui but they (US authorities) did not agree.

Expressing his views in the Senate today, Ishaq Dar said that we tried immensely to bring back Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif also tried during his time as he also talked about this in the White House but they did not agree. I had interaction with them on this issue between 2013 and in 2018.

He said that efforts would be made to convince the US to send Aafia back. I had a detailed discussion with the current Foreign Minister Antony Blanken about it three times. We have given several solutions as we want Dr. Aafia to come back.

Dar said that as soon as the cabinet is formed, it will be our priority to request the US to bring the daughter of Pakistan according to the laws. Many things can happen here and the punishment can be served here.

I assure that full diplomatic efforts will be made to bring Dr Aafia back, Dar added.
