Usama Mir creates HBL PSL history

13 March, 2024 10:55

Multan Sultans’ leg-spinner Usama Mir has created the HBL Pakistan Super League history after an impressive outing against Quetta Gladiators on Tuesday.

The leg-spinner has become the highest wicket-taker in a single edition among spin bowlers in the tournament’s history.

He achieved this feat after bowling out Mohammad Wasim Jr.

With an outstanding performance in PSL 9, Usama has claimed a staggering 21 wickets so far, surpassing the previous record held by Rashid Khan, who bagged 20 scalps in the last season for Lahore Qalandars.

Overall, he needs five wickets to break the all-time record of highest wickets in a single season.

Hasan Ali holds the record when he claimed 25 wickets in 2019.

Sultans’ Abass Afridi with 23 wickets and Ehsanullah with 22 scalps both in 2023 are the second and third in the chart respectively.

Faheem Ashraf is fourth in the list with 21 wickets, which he picked in the 2019 edition.

Multan Sultans will play at least two more games, which gives Mir a golden opportunity to overtake Hasan Ali’s feat.
