Vawda questions Sattar about interference claims

15 May, 2024 14:24

Senator Faisal Vawda has questioned Islamabad High Court Judge Babar Sattar about his alleged interference claims in court matters.

“Why is Justice Babar remembering these things after a year,” the independent senator told a news conference today in Islamabad.

He said: “Accusing someone will not work, the evidence will have to be given in the court of law. Tell me who interfered with your work?”

Vawda said that 15 days had passed but no details was shared to support the claims of alleged interference.

I wrote a letter to the judges of the Islamabad High Court on March 30, Vawda said. Doubts are being created in people’s hearts. Under the Article 2, there should be no temptation in judges. If there is any paper work, it should be provided, he added.

The former federal minister asked the IHC judge to bring evidence of interference and we will stand with him. I am a senator, if I don’t get an answer, then how will the common man get?

The senator reminded that when roti (bread) became cheap for the poor, a stay order came.

About the delayed justice in the country, he said that Zulfikar Bhutto got justice after 40 years of judicial murder. Asif Zardari was kept in jail for 11 years while Nawaz Sharif was expelled for not taking salary, Vawda added.

He was of the view that the country should be protected from external and internal conspiracies, chaos and enemies.

He said that process of targeting state institutions should be stopped.
