Virat Kohli lands in legal trouble

09 July, 2024 20:24

Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli has found himself embroiled in legal issues just as he is set to make a move to London, according to reports in the Indian media.

The Bangalore police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Kohli’s One8 Commune pub, located on Kusturbha Road in Bangalore, for allegedly violating noise regulations and operating beyond permitted hours.

The FIR stated that the pub remained open until late in the night on July 6, despite having permission to operate only until 1:30 am.

The police received complaints about the pub playing music at high volume, which led to the investigation.

Clubs in the area are only allowed to remain open until 1 am, a rule that the One8 Commune pub is accused of violating.

In addition to Virat Kohli’s pub, the police have also taken action against three other pubs in the area for similar violations. One8 Commune pub, located near the Chinnaswamy cricket stadium, is among the pubs booked for violating the rules.

This legal issue comes at a time when Kohli is set to move to London, marking a new chapter in his life. The cricket superstar had recently announced his retirement from T20 International cricket after leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa.

In a post-match interview, Kohli confirmed that this was his last T20 World Cup playing for India and that it was time for the next generation to take the T20 game forward.
