Watch: Bangladesh cricketer Mashrafe Mortaza’s house set on fire
Bangladesh is going through tough times as violent civil disobedience protests led to the downfall of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 15-year rule.
The protests, which have engulfed the country, have targeted homes of Awami League MPs, including former cricket captain Mashrafe Mortaza.
His house was set ablaze, but he and his family had relocated to a safer location beforehand. The police attempted to prevent the arson but were overwhelmed by the chaos.
Mashrafe Mortaza, who was elected to the National Assembly on the Awami League ticket along with Shakib, managed to relocate his family before the attack on his home.

The protests have also targeted Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s private residence and the party’s central headquarters.
Bangladesh’s parliament was dissolved on Tuesday a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled following a violent uprising.
Nahid Islam one of the key organisers of the movement against Hasina, said on Facebook with two other student leaders that parliament should be dissolved by 3 pm (0900 GMT) on Tuesday and asked “revolutionary students to be ready” if that did not happen.
The decision to dissolve the parliament was taken following meetings with the heads of defence forces, leaders of political parties, student leaders and some civil society representatives, the presidential statement said.
Bangladesh’s Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman was due to meet student leaders to discuss the formation of an interim government that is expected to hold elections soon after it takes over.
