A bizarre incident stole the spotlight during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 match between Chepauk Super Gillies and Siechem Madurai Panthers at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul.

The incident occurred when a left-handed batter from Chepauk Super Gillies smashed a six off a short ball from a right-arm pacer. A local man quickly grabbed the ball and walked away, refusing to return it when asked.

The moment was captured on camera and went viral on social media platforms.

Siechem Madurai Panthers successfully defended total of 191 runs, despite being eliminated from the tournament.

Suresh Lokeshwar scored 55 runs off 40 balls, and Jagatheesan Kousik added an unbeaten 43 off 24. Baba Aparajith was the top bowler for the Super Gillies, taking one wicket for just 23 runs in his four overs.

The Super Gillies put up a strong fight during the chase, with Pradosh Ranjan Paul scoring 52 runs off 37 balls and D Santhosh Kumar contributing 48 off 36 balls. However, Karthick Manikandan’s three wickets for 23 runs secured the Panthers’ victory.
