Watch: Violent Hindu mob attacks mosque in India

Hindu extremists attacked the Raza Jama Mosque in Kolhapur and desecrated the Holy Quran, while shouting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ (‘Glory to Lord Rama’), Indian Media reported Thursday.

The violent mob attacked the mosque in Maharashtra state during Muharram on Wednesday.

According to media reports, a mob of Hindu extremists, led by the former MP, destroyed the mosque during Islam’s holiest month Muharram and hoisted its special flag and also desecrated the Holy Quran.

The move behind the attack was to create panic in the area, the former member resorted to goons and ransacked Muslim shops and houses while the police remained a mute spectator to the incident.

The mob was led by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s son Thaja, who recently demanded demolition of Muslim houses and shops in the name of encroachments ahead of the general elections in India.
