Many WhatsApp users frequently receive unwanted messages and calls from unknown contacts, and have long requested a feature to prevent such accounts from reaching them.

It seems the messaging platform is now closer to delivering this, as its beta version is introducing the option to block messages from unknown senders.

Currently, WhatsApp is testing this feature in its Android beta version 2.24.17.24, and it has now moved into the beta phase.

According to WhatsApp, enabling this feature may potentially enhance device performance, although this claim remains uncertain. What’s clear is that users, particularly women, will benefit from improved privacy by blocking strangers.

An interesting aspect of this feature, highlighted in the beta version, is that blocking will automatically activate if an account exceeds a certain number of interactions.

Users can find this new blocking tool under the Privacy settings in an Advanced section, where a toggle switch allows them to enable it.
