In any film industry, a hit film is judged by its box office earnings and making 500 crore rupees or more in Bollywood today is not a big deal.

Today even a modest film earns at least 100 crores, but if we talk about 2 to 3 decades ago, if a film earns even 50 crores, it was considered a super hit.

It is believed that the 90s Salman Khan’s film ‘Hum Aap Ke Hain Koon?’ was the highest grossing film and became the first Bollywood film to cross 100 crore.

But let us tell you that there is absolutely no truth in this.

According to Indian media, neither Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan nor Amitabh Bachchan’s film has achieved the honour of being the first Bollywood film to earn 100 crores. This feat was achieved by the 80s actor Mithun Chakraborty.

The report said that Mithun Chakraborty’s super hit film ‘Disco Dancer’ released in 1982 was the first Indian film to earn a total of 100 crores.

According to reports, the film created new records of success in the then Soviet Union, including India.

Mithun Chakraborty’s film ‘Disco Dancer’ grossed 6 crore rupees in India at that time, but when the film was released in the Soviet Union in 1984, it grossed more than 12 crore rupees.

The film grossed around 95 crore from the Soviet Union, becoming the first Indian film to gross 100 crores worldwide.

After this film its producer and actor Mithun Chakraborty reached new heights of fame.
